Acting & Auditioning for the Camera with Andy Clemence

Students will learn the basic requirements of film acting and how it differs dramatically from acting on the stage. They will also be taken through a series of mock film & TV auditions and provided with an understanding of how these auditions are run and how the all-important casting process works. Information on Casting Directors, Agents, and Producers is also discussed. Students may obtain a copy of their work via Dropbox link upon request. Class size is limited to 14 people, allowing each actor a solid amount of time in front of the camera for feedback and re-directs. Topics include: How To Work With a Reader What Casting Directors and Producers Are Looking For Who's In “The Room” – What To Ask Guest Stars, Co-Stars, and “The One-Liner” Techniques for Cold Readings The “Agent–Actor–Casting Director–Producer” relationship.
Andy Clemence has been a professional stage, film, and voice actor for 35 years, appearing in lead roles at The Kennedy Center, Ford's Theatre, American Century Theatre, and Folger Theatre. He has done extensive voice acting for Graphic Audio Productions, and performed for 15 years with the political comedy troupe The Capitol Steps, portraying President GW Bush all across the U.S and Off-Broadway. In Hollywood, Andy starred in a number of films for Syfy-Universal including Black Forest with Academy Award™ winner Ben Cross, Super Cyclone with Ming-Na (Marvel's Agents of SHIELD), and Rise Of The Zombies with LaVar Burton and Danny Trejo. He also appeared as the Secretary of Labor on House Of Cards, Season 3 opposite Kevin Spacey. Andy is a private acting coach to both youth and adult actors, many of whom have signed with top agents from NY and LA as a result. He provides Video Audition taping services, on-camera coaching, audition preparation, scene study, and career & industry consultations in studio and via Skype.
